Kafka Protocol
The Kafka protocol is a brand-new addition to the protocol family. Supports scripting in Java. Two types of LoadRunner functions are available for script: Kafka Producer and Kafka Consumer functions.
You can also use all the standard Java methods that are supported in Kafka.
Improvements in TruClient and DevWeb
TruClient got polished updates to Chromium 96 and TruClient 88 with security patches.
DevWeb got support for Asynchronous calls for gRPC requests, Kerberos authentication, support to view additional web request headers, grouping concurrent requests (tech preview), and several security, performance, and stability fixes.
DevWeb runtime settings GUI got a polished look.
Run Logic for DevWeb scripts.
Chaos Testing with Gremlin (Tech Preview)
Chaos engineering is on the rise. Now you can run your Gremlin experiments from the Controller.
LoadRunner Data Hub
Data Hub is a new component to bridge between the Load Generator and Controller via the web and over the firewall, powered by Kafka technology.
Updates in result collation and export
LR 2022 now supports InfluxDB 2.0 and automatically stores the results in InfluxDB. LoadRunner Data Hub can be used to export and collate the raw transactions’ data.
Improvement in scheduling
The below Runtime File Storage option enables you to specify transfer and storage options for runtime files.
Service Virtualization installation packages
The LR package now includes Service Virtualization for Windows and Linux.
Windows 11 Support
LR now supports Windows 11 21H2 and MS SQL Server 2019, and JDK/JRE 17.
System usage data for Controller and Load Generators
LRP now collects the system resource usage data by default for the controller and load generators. The visualization is available under the Controller and Load Generator Resources graph.
Azure Key Vault
This tech preview feature allows LR to work with Azure Key Vault auth. Dedicated Azure API functions are available to read the token to get the secrets.
UTF-8 Encoding
Supports for non-English characters in the transaction names has been added in this version in load generator config.
Final Words
Above is the non-exhaustive list of LoadRunner Professional 2022. Personally, I like the integration of Gremlin, Kafka protocols, and the polished UI of VuGen. The controller and analysis still have the legacy look and user experience. Of course, this release will have several security fixes, improvements, enhancements, and more.
