HPE LoadRunner R&D Team is seeking your help

HPE LoadRunner R&D team is seeking your help. Here are the details: if you are an author of unique correlation rules for mobile or web applications, you can share it with HPE LoadRunner R&D team.

Your correlation rules might get recognized, awarded and credited. All you need to do is, you need to send the correlation rules to ilm [at] hpe dot com.

What are Correlation Rules?

I assume that you know how to correlate in HPE LoadRunner. By default, VuGen has around 10-12 applications with 25+ correlation rules, which correlates automatically during code generation.

Correlation Rules saves time by performing automatic correlation. To correlate by matching with the rules, you need to check the appropriate application and its rules in the Recording Options.

You can add an application, add rules, edit/delete applications/rules, import/export rules, test a rule and there is an advanced options as well.

When to create correlation rules?

Before you create any correlation rules, make sure that rule is available in the default list. If it is not listed, record the applications couple of time to understand the correlation pattern.

Assume that for below response, there is no correlation rule present. You can create one easily.

<td data-id=”UIHBJBORHT*%*&*69869JKBKJG”>Some Value</td>

For above responses, you can create correlation rules and perform correlation automatically without searching and replacing the text. If your response has more number of <td> tags with the identical dynamic patterns, you could save more time.

How to create Correlation Rules

Below is my correlation rule which i created with left boundary as startvalues_k= and right boundary as &&.

mytag_value_startvalues_k=serverdynamicvalue&&

My Correlation Rules 1

If you export the rules, it will save with the extension *.cor which is nothing but XML. Below is the sample correlation rule which I created.

<?xml version=”1.0″?>

<CorrelationSettings>

        <Group Name=”My Application” Enable=”1″ Icon=”logo_default.bmp”>

                <Rule Name=”Rule_5″ LeftBoundText=”startvalues_k=” LeftBoundType=”1″ LeftBoundInstance=”0″ RightBoundText=”&amp;&amp;” RightBoundType=”1″ AltRightBoundText=”” AltRightBoundType=”1″ Flags=”8″ ParamPrefix=”myrulesprefix” Type=”8″ SaveOffset=”0″ SaveLen=”-1″ CallbackName=”” CallbackDLLName=”” FormField=”” ReplaceLB=”” ReplaceRB=””/>

        </Group>

</CorrelationSettings>

Your turn: Will you be sharing your correlation rules to HPE to get name and fame? Please let us know in the comment section.
