How to upgrade from QTP to UFT? Questions answered.

Many of the project managers were skeptical to upgrade from QTP to UFT 11.5, though they have potential to upgrade. There might be many reasons such as older scripts will throw errors, incompatibility between older and newer scripts etc. Let me bring few points which clarifies such questions.

Upgrade UFT and QC (Quality Center)

UFT 11.5 perfectly works along with QC 10 as well as with ALM 11.5 (Application Life Cycle Management). Please check out the Product Availability Matrix

License Issues

You no need to upgrade existing QTP or ST (Service Test) licenses to UFT licenses. If you are already paying for support on your existing licenses, you can download UFT 11.5. Please note you might not get all the UFT features, but you will get the features of QTP or ST.

Apart from the said features, you will get brand new interface, ability to edit more than one script, Continuous Integration, with the HP Application Automation Tools plugin for Jenkins, for QTP licenses you will get the image-based automation solution and new File Content checkpoint and Bitmap checkpoint and for ST license, you get, ability to create actions, JSON support in REST and SAP IDOC and RFC support.

I hope you are clear about upgrading from HP QTP to HP UFT. Happy Testing!
