Object Identification Process Workflow in QTP

In this blog post, I have posted an important flowchart which explains Object Identificaion Process Workflow of HP QTP. Every QTP automation engineers needs to aware how QTP identifies objects during run-time. Below is the workflow of object identification process.

To identify an object successfully, QTP utilizes maximum of four stages.

1. Description Properties

2. Visual Relation Identifiers

3. Smart Identification

4. Ordinal Identifiers

First QTP tries to identify objects using descriptive properties, if it several/one matches are/is found, then it tries to match objects using Visual Relation Identifier.

If one match is found using Visual Relation Identifier, then the object is identified. If several/none match found, QTP tries to identify objects using Smart Identification.

If match is found using Smart Identification, then the object is identified. If several/none match found, QTP tries to identify objects using Oridial Identifier.

If one match is found, then the object is identifies, else object identification is falied.

Hi Naveen Kumar, the flow chart is really helpful for anyone to understand Object Identification in QTP :).
However, as per my understanding, if an object gets uniquely identified with Description Properties only, then Visual Relationship identifiers will not be used, i.e. Identification mechanism will end there…??
